These are songs based on ideas that came into existence between late 2017 and the summer of 2018, put together into an EP as soon as the concept of Social Media Sadness became more and more solid in my mind.
Living in a modern metropolis and an international city, I have been very much affected by the impact the internet and especially the social media have on young people nowadays.
Seeing how an entire generation has grown up online, I have been observing through friends and people I collaborate with, the huge (and negative) impact the above mentioned factors have in young people's psychology:
All the depression, anxiety, the rise of political correctness and extreme sensitivity as well as the preference to avoid actual human contact result in a literal Social Media Sadness.
Songs about loneliness, indifference, depression and the emotional headache caused by the constant "information buzz".
A true soundtrack to 2018.
Different singers with different timbres assume the role of storytellers. Let the songs take you on a trip, let the soundscapes and atmospheres travel through old and new sounds, from a 60s nostalgia to the square beats of dubstep.
My new musical lovechild is old enough to leave home, grab it by the hand and let it tell you its bittersweet stories through layers of melodic and lush electronica, pop beats and funky twists!
